The United States Polo Association is located at the National Polo Center Located in the heart of South Florida’s equestrian paradise, the National Polo Center (NPC) in Wellington is the official home of polo in the United States. Owned and operated by the United States Polo Association (USPA), NPC serves as a year-round hub for elite polo tournaments, community events, and luxury hospitality. Formerly known as the International Polo Club Palm Beach, the center was rebranded in 2022 to reflect its national significance and expanded mission.

Wellington Equestrian Preserve

The National Polo Center is part of the Wellington Equestrian Preserve that includes Wellington International, home of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (GDF) and Equestrian Sports Productions that produces horse shows throughout the year. The Wellington Equestrian Preserve also encompasses many individally owned horse ranches that are an integral part of Wellington's horse culture.

2026 National Polo Center Season - Wellington Schedule TBA

Winter Season Polo January - March every Sunday at 3.00 PM.

Polo matches at the National Polo Center. Come early and enjoy Sunday brunch on the outdoor patio including strawberries and cream. Alternatively, bring your own picnic basket and tailgate on the sidelines. You can reserve field side parking for tailgating by calling ahead.  Gorgeous weather and exciting high goal polo combine to lure fans out every Sunday afternoon at 3.00 pm to meet friends, sip champagne, and munch on fresh strawberries.

 Between chukkas serious polo watchers wander out onto the polo field to reset divots torn up by the thundering hooves of ten fearless polo ponies. If you have never watched this fast moving, daring sport, put it on your bucket list.

Spanning over 300 acres, NPC features six tournament-grade polo fields, a grand stadium with VIP box seating, and the iconic U.S. Polo Assn. Field One. Spectators can enjoy thrilling matches from January through April, including the prestigious U.S. Open Polo Championship, Gauntlet of Polo, and Heritage Cup. The venue also hosts youth tournaments, corporate events, and equestrian-themed weddings.

2026 Gauntlet of Polo

The 2026 Gauntlet of Polo® will serve as the premier spectacle of the season, showcasing the highest level of the sport in America. The three-part series will begin with the C.V. Whitney Cup®, continue with the USPA Gold Cup®, and conclude with the U.S. Open Polo Championship® .. Any team that wins all three tournaments will be crowned the Gauntlet Champion.

This event is hosted and managed by the Port Mayaca Polo Club (Okeechobee, Florida) Tournament Dates: January 25 - February 9, 2025 Semifinals: Thursday, February 6, 2025 Final: Sunday, February 9, 2025, on U.S. Polo Assn. Field One.

Rules of Polo

Polo is an exhilarating, high-speed sport that combines skill, strategy, and horsemanship. Often called The Sport of Kings, it pits two teams of four riders against each other in a thrilling battle to score goals. Using long-handled mallets, players drive a small white ball toward the opposing team's goal while racing across a vast grass field measuring 300 yards long and 160 yards wide.

Game Structure

Matches unfold in timed periods called chukkas, each lasting seven minutes. Depending on the level of play, there are typically six chukkas per match. Each player is assigned a specific role:

• Number 1: Leads the charge, aiming to score.
• Number 4: Plays defense, guarding the goal.
• Numbers 2 and 3: Balance attack and defense, making strategic plays to support their team.

Rules and Safety

Safety and fairness are crucial, guided by key rules like the Line of the Ball, which prevents dangerous collisions by maintaining a clear path for the ball. The Right of Way rule ensures priority is given to players closest to the ball’s trajectory.
